Do not obey in advance. Most of the power of authoritarianism is freely given. In times like these, individuals think ahead about what a more repressive government will want, and then offer themselves with- out being asked. A citizen who adapts in this way is teaching power what it can do.

   Not only do not obey, do not assume there's nothing you can do, that you're helpless against the all powerful regime. Yes,they will do terrible things. But they can't stop you doing a thousand good ones. Get your oxygen mask secure first, use the tools already in place, don't assume it's pointless to <insert action here> just because they'll make it illegal later--that's a good reason to do it now. Don't game out ways to give in before they're even in office.
