In 1841 Kamehameha Il merged schools and officially created the first public school system in Hawai' which primarily taught in the Hawailan language, although most Hawaiians were bi- o tri- lingual. Hawafi became the first nation to make educafion required for children between the ages of six and fifteen. Europe & the United States only allowed quality education for the upper classes and aristocracy.

54% of Americans can't read above a 6th grade level TODAY, teachers quit in droves, w/ trillions in student debt which graduates can't pay. A stark contrast to Hawaii's universal free quality education. We had the world's highest literacy rate (98%).
