Screenshot of Google AI search results for "enshittified Google" Text in the screenshot: "AI Overview Enshittification is a term that describes the decline in quality of online services and products over time. Cory Doctorow coined the term in 2022, and the American Dialect Society named it its 2023 Word of the Year. Enshittification occurs when a platform or service initially offers value to attract users, but then degrades its offerings to prioritize profits for shareholders. Some say that Google has been affected by enshittification, and that its advertising capabilities and reach have contributed to concerns about privacy and data exploitation. Doctorow suggests two ways to reduce enshittification: End-to-end principle: Platforms should transmit data in response to user requests, rather than based on algorithm-driven decisions. Right of exit: Users should be able to leave a platform without losing their data. "

@Bongolian @pluralistic Welp. I reloaded my search. Magically, the term "Google" now only appears once in the AI results, in a very tame sentence:
"Some say that Google has been affected by enshittification..."
