[Wrecking everything] #Google announces deep integration of AI into #YouTube, to help flood you with vastly more garbage videos generated at the click of a mouse to try accumulate views. What fun.
So what's happening here is that Google clearly wants to take as much human creativity out of YouTube as possible. And why not? A billion AI crap videos can run ads just as effectively as a far smaller number of truly creative videos worked on by caring humans.
Google seems hell bent on wrecking everything they have that is nice. And much of what the rest of us have that is nice. -L
Well, I guess I have officially joined the 21st century Gig economy. A few months back I set up a Dasher account on Door Dash just to see how it worked.
On New Year's Eve, we were bored of the second run of the NYE TV show, so Tree and I went dashing mostly for the drive and did a couple deliveries. We had fun.
So I've been doing a few more this week when I had an hour or two to spare. It's an impressively efficient system considering how new it is to our area and the variety of restaurants that use it, even in my small town.
I've put in about 6.5hrs (mostly NY Day) and made an average of $CAD20/hr inc. tips. Not sure if it's going to be a solid thing, but I guess my foot is in the door.
If you're interested, let me know. Happy to answer questions about it. I've done tech consultant/help kind of work off and on for over 20 years and have had a business name associated with that for most of that time but it's never been more than the odd job here and there. That was kind of the 20th century version of the side hustle.
This app-based stuff is interesting.
I had lunch at Neiman-Marcus Cafe in Dallas. I decided to try the "Neiman-Marcus Cookie". It was great!
I asked them to give me the recipe and they refused. Well, I said, would you let me buy the recipe? They said, "Yes." I asked how much? "Two fifty." I said to add it to my tab.
Imagine my surprise when I got my Visa bill for $250! I asked for a refund; they said no. I said, I paid $250, so I'm going to have $250 of fun.
So I trained an LLM with it, called ChocGPT, and charge $20/mo.
My #Samsung tablet (2022 model)'s GPS is weird.
It's accurate within the first 700 meters when I started tracking.
Then it's off by 50 meters LON after that. Then it will be off by 5 meters LAT later.
My #Strava attempts are failing. T_T
It's making solo #running less fun.
So far, the most accurate #GPS I've found are from #Nokia and #realme phones. Unfortunately, both are no longer usable. RealMe was my most recent phone, but an official October update messed it up, and started restarting (even after reverting to factory).
I should get a sportswatch with a built-in GPS, or a dedicated phone with a good GPS, just for running.
@horse No, missed that, bit a client went and now we are setting up a CTF. Apparently they had a class on CTFd, and I used to use it for the CodeMash CTF so should be fun.
So you are up north, yeah?
