Screenshot of email today from Seek. Thank you for using SEEK Pass to securely verify, manage and share your identity, credentials and documents. We’re writing to inform you of some important updates to both our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions. What is changing? We recently rebranded from Certsy to SEEK Pass to offer a more consistent experience that reflects the growing importance of verified data for job seekers on SEEK. Additionally, SEEK Pass is expanding and offering our services in new Asia-Pacific (APAC) markets. For our customers in Australia and New Zealand, your SEEK Pass functionality remains largely the same. However, we’re updating both our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions to simplify them and ensure they meet the requirements of operating across our APAC markets. You will be able to review in greater detail the purposes for which we collect your data, how and when such data may be shared and our approach in relation to the retention and security of your data. Ahead of this change, we encourage you to read our updated Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions before they take effect on or around 31 October 2024. What happens next? The updated Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions will automatically take effect on or around 31 October 2024. By continuing to use our services after this date, you agree to our updated Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions. If you do not wish to accept these changes, you can delete your account at any time.

Seek has copied a recent change LinkedIn made, and has decided to use your personal data for AI training. Presumably, this includes your CV / Resume / professional work history and other private information.

The fine print in the Privacy Policy says they're going to use your data for Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning. The outgoing version of the Privacy Policy makes no mention of AI / ML. It's happening to all users / customers by default, there's no opt-out, and if you disagree with the change then they tell you to delete your account.

The announcement came in an innocuous-looking email about updates to the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions that will happen on the 31st of October 2024. This affects people in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. But, not in the EU, where they have laws against this sort of thing.
