"A Matter of the Heart" by Leeanne Chames Dementia is a head condition, not a heart condition. When your loved one looks blank, it does not mean they have no feelings, or thoughts. When your loved one does not smile, it does not mean they have no joy. When your loved one cannot remember your name, it does not mean they do not love you. While the mind forgets, the heart remembers. ‘ A moment of love and connection produces joy in the soul that is not soon forgotten. More than a memory, we are loving, thinking, feeling human beings. Even behind the veil of dementia.
