Video begins with the back side of the Keck telescope mirror, with a support structure made of metal triangles and hexagons. The telescope slowly moves down and to the right, revealing the edge of the backplane of the telescope's hexagon-shaped mirrors. The telescope's round secondary mirror, held by supports in front of the primary mirror, is visible in the upper left. The telescope continues to rotate and a white structure, housing the adaptive optics, blocks most of the view. Camera pans up to the dome and the secondary mirror. Eventually, the front of the enormous primary mirror rotates into view. The camera pans over to a tube-like, silver instrument beside the telescope, then back to the primary mirror. The mirror is made of 36 hexagonal segments and is 10 meters in diameter. Jutting out of the center of the mirror is a large silver cone, a baffle that blocks stray light from entering the hole at the center of the mirror.
