@randahl There are posters like this everywhere - apartment blocks, supermarkets, streets. They advertise payments of 5200000 RUB for the first year of contract.
These include contract salary (260K RUB * 12 months) and the rest are one time sign-up bonuses (around 2.3M RUB). Also there are additional payments for injuries and certain combat achievements (like taking out valuable enemy vehicles) which are not included.
What is interesting is this large figure they advertise which is enough to buy a modest apartment outside of Moscow and is about half of cost of one in Moscow. And since a lot of people have housing issues and can't tackle credit rates this is the clear message: "Sign up, serve for one year and you'll get your own place you can't afford otherwise".
Some economists here say there is no real need to raise base interest rate and it won't solve anything and just makes things harder for businesses - however this is one thing skyrocketing interest rates do help with.
