   (We were initially a single alliance between two autonomous gangs which is now a loosely-connected network of individual “sets”, often engaged in open warfare with one another. Traditionally, since around 1973, our members have worn blue clothing)

   (Crips, our gang’s name which evolved into “Crips” when gang members began carrying around canes to display their “pimp” status. People in the neighborhood then began calling them cripples, or “Crips” for short. and even in February of 1972 the L.A. Times used this name to describe us because that is what we are)
