   The PMC COVID-19 Forecasting Model has revealed a dramatic surge in COVID-19 cases across the United States. As of September 9, 2024, daily infections have soared to over 1.3 million, with 2.8% of the population—equivalent to 1 in every 36 individuals—currently infectious.
