Insides of a tablet computer. On the right a large Li-Ion pouch is visible, held on by screws (undone). Center, a green PCB, held by screws (removed) and two plastic hooks. Several flat PCB connectors have cables going into them. On the far left, a black speaker housing containing a through-screen fiting speaker. Below, a button and a tiny camera. Most of the PCB is covered in a large metal shield, which is held by a few screws any many very small double-clips made of metal that hold it securely.

Toshiba, at least in 2015, knew how to build a tablet computer that can be repaired.

Case is openable by clips that don't break off. All cables can be disconnected. PCBs are screwed, battery is screwed, no glue except for small adhesive strips securing cables against vibration.

That EM metal cage? Removable. It sits on tiny clips soldered to the board.

Nobody got knighted for this. Toshiba exited the market in 2018.
