Photograph of a downy woodpecker perched on a branch of a wild grape vine with small, shriveled and desiccated pale yellow grapes attached to the vine via small twigs and stems and with out of focus trees and a grey, overcast sky in the background. The woodpecker is facing the camera with its body tilted to the right and its head turned to look over its left leaving one eye visible. Downy woodpeckers have white bellies, chests and under-tails, dark blue-black tail and wing feathers with white bars on the wing feathers giving it a checkerboard pattern, blue-black back feathers with a streak of white feathers up the center, white heads with a blue-black chin strap, mask, and cap, a patch of red feathers on the back of the head, silvery-black beaks, and black legs and feet.
