Public health officials long ago decided to offer people guidance they were willing to accept rather than giving them the hard facts and instructions for how not to destroy themselves. The political party that volunteers to plunge people back into the pandemic (that never ended) will lose. It's a tragic reality. I live in a very blue part of a blue state and the shit I got on Friday about wearing a mask from my young, educated, liberal doctor was a perfect example of why no political party wants to own Covid. Because nobody in this country - or the world, for that matter - wants to stop pretending that it's 2019, and they will punish anyone who yanks them out of fantasy land.

Bullshit.
Myth: "Public health has become useless because they don't want to upset people."
Fact: Public health has become useless because actually doing public health dampers corporate profits for a few quarters.
2020 was a half hearted attempt at public health and even that drove a barrel of oil to close to $0.
