I’ve made the decision to stop using Spotify again. While I’ve considered setting up a self-hosted Navidrome server as an alternative, I’m currently focused on minimizing my living expenses as much as possible, so that’s not an option right now.

I’ve also shut down all the proxy and VPN servers I was running, after confirming that regular VPNs are working fine for now. My funds are running low, so I’m being very cautious with my spending.

I was running an Akkoma instance at Buddyverse.one, but with only five users who weren’t active, it didn’t make sense to keep it going, so I shut it down. After talking to some people, it seems that Mastodon might be a better fit for what I’m trying to achieve.

I’m currently working on bringing more South Asians, especially Bangladeshis, to the Fediverse. I’m also writing blog posts to help with this, and Buddyverse.one will be back soon—this time using Mastodon with the Mastodon Bird UI theme.

I’m planning to spend around $20/month to run my personal instance, which will also host my blog, techbites.info.

I initially wanted to use WordPress for the blog, but I just can’t ignore how simple and clean Ghost is. The downside is that I won’t be able to publish premium content since Stripe isn’t available in Bangladesh, but I’m okay with that for now.

The situation in Bangladesh is still far from normal. We’ve successfully prevented multiple coup attempts, and there’s a high chance we’ll face another one soon. The amount of misinformation we’re currently battling, much of it coming from India, is overwhelming and beyond our control. I plan to write about these issues tomorrow, InShaAllah.
