text from an event description: "We recognise that Covid is most definitely still amongst us, so we have the above safety features in place to try and lower the rates of potential transmission. Masking will not be mandatory within this space to allow each person to have autonomy over their personal decision to mask. We recognise that masking can create or reduce barriers for people, so we allow individual autonomy over this decision. Masks will be available at the door and free for all attendees. We will also have a craft station where you can also decorate your mask on the night. We encourage everyone to check out the accessibility and Covid Safety features on offer prior to purchasing a ticket, to allow each person to make an informed decision about whether their party needs can be met through this event."

    i sooooo struggle to deal with this kind of writing style

    you can just write "we're not doing masks btw". like just own it. it's fine. it is, for better or worse, the norm.

    this kind of writing just reads like you know it's not great, you know it's incompatible with the rest of the accessibility stuff you're talking about, you know to expect some blowback for it, and you're trying to preempt that blowback with therapy speak. it's the appearance of accountability while dodging accountability that gets me
