When I was growing up in the 1970s and 1980s no one saw color. We were all just Americans. Why did that change?

   When I was growing up in the ‘70s & ‘80s ALL I saw was color…I saw white spaces and places where it was LITERALLY unsafe for me to enter; where ONLY white folx were respected as “Americans”
