   As you likely have heard, Vance wrote a memoir about his traumatic childhood which featured a lot of violence and substance abuse.

   Unfortunately, however, by his own admission, he has not gotten over the trauma. He said this in a 2017 interview with then-NBC host Megyn Kelly.

   He is a person who constantly remakes himself to fit in, especially with authority figures.
