A dull light green and pale yellow green mottled globe emerging from the stem of a plant. It's a study in textures applied to a spherical form. Some lichen are flakey, others, spindly, there are little black hairs and scabby textured patches like continents on another world. The lichens are consuming the house a sneaky wasp induced the plant to grow for her larvae. The wasp is long gone, and the procession of life continues.

Now this one will get all of the "weird biology" freaks excited. Behold! An abandon plant gall covered in multiple species of lichen!
I can't help but think of how it looks like a little planet, like it's a tiny world all to itself...
Plants, insects, fungi, bacteria all interacting to create this.
