3/3 - Selfishly Podcasting 2.0 apps like TrueFans need all podcasts to become a paid for 1st class digital product. We are seeing this trend slowly happening with Wondery+, The Economist, FT and now the NY times. And yet Apple Subscriptions has been a failure?
In order for Podcasting 2.0 apps to see pay-as-you-listen micropayments get wider adoption, we will need all podcasts behind paid wall. Why would anyone pay for a podcast (even micropayments) if they get it free on Apple? Am I wrong?
