I am re-reading the Myst books from Rand Miller from the 1990s. In them, Atrus and his father Gehn explore the remnants of the city of D'ni, wherein they are attempting to find any unwritten Linking books or Descriptive books.
My main takeaway from their struggles so far is that wow, for an advanced lost civilization, the D'ni did not have a good system of archiving. I am definitely going to tell my colleagues who work in preservation about this!
