Six of her family members, including her sister Layan were killed, but Hind spent three hours on the phone to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) pleading for help before they lost contact with her. When rescue workers were finally able to reach the scene 12 days later, they found Hind had been killed along with her family, as well as the two PRCS paramedics who had been sent to rescue her.
