Three panels from a KotDT, with the third panel in darkmode. They're talking about protecting the magic user and how the goblins are attacking Sara and Dave. The third panel had white text on black. Same three panels are then shown again with a radius blur with blend mode set to multiply in GIMP #ChangeTheName. The black text in the first two panels gets thick, but so does the black background in the third darkmode panel, drowning out the white text. Red on white is the easiest to see.

I don't want mandatory darkmode because I just can't see it very well especially when I'm tired. I can but only if I squint and like super focus, or zoom in. Here is a comparison image (above and below) but to me they're the same picture.

This is for LCD screens. On CRT it's the other way around and there I did use darkmode all the time. I dunno why.
