   the jnf (jewish national fund) has planted most of the ben shemen #forest. partially, to make the land look 'more europian'; partially, to cover up the ruins of the #palestinian #nakba. they planted pine #trees who grow wide and not deep into the #soil. as a result, the forest is full of trees which have fallen, as the tree in the pic did. that makes the forest flammable and indeed fires break out a lot in ben shemen.
