   @kaia a cursory search reveals that there are different size vynils, the one you usually see around is the 12” one which does have a plastic disc in the middle for the label so you’re only left with enough space for the axis that rotates the vynil

   smaller sizes have less room for music (i presume becuase it’s to give you exactly 45 min or whatever worth of recording?) so they probably had the tripod thingie to fit the same bill as the plastic disc in the bigger one (as they are all meant to be played in the same machine)
