This is a photograph of two blue birds fluttering in a sweet gum treetop. There are several sparsely leaved narrow branches reach towards the top of the frame. One blue bird is in the upper left corner flying to the right, blue wings spread and blue tail spread, the golden-brown soft feathers under its wings are visible. The second bluebird is lower right of center, also flying to the right. The bluebird's blue wings are down, and the blue back is visible. The bird appears to be hunched over in this position. Little black legs and feet dangle below. Both birds have gray faces with black eyes and a black beak. "The Eastern Bluebird is a small thrush with a big, rounded head, large eye, plump body, and alert posture. The wings are long, but the tail and legs are fairly short. The bill is short and straight. Male Eastern Bluebirds are vivid, deep blue above and rusty or brick-red on the throat and breast. Blue in birds always depends on the light, and males often look plain gray brown from a distance. Females are grayish above with bluish wings and tail, and a subdued orange-brown breast." - allaboutbirds.org
