One of the earliest recorded Indigenous philosophers and scientists is Juan Yunpa.
Born c.1520, Yunpa witnessed the Spanish conquest of the Incan Empire. Mentioned by Guamán Poma, Yunpa was a philosopher and astronomer who studied the sun, truth, & read the lost Incan writing system of Khipu. He lived nearly 150 years.
