The legal community has to call the authoritarianism=enabling law firms to task,. Not just through institutions like the bar, but privately, through social pressure.
So, I'm sending S&C and Jones Day lawyers I know Judge Howell's opinion (https://assets.bwbx.io/documents/users/iqjWHBFdfxIU/rjDlP2JhKzy0/v0) and a couple of Timothy Ryback's great articles (https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2025/02/nazi-germany-loyalty/681782/ and https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2025/01/hitler-germany-constitution-authoritarianism/681233/).
Not spamming. Just a reminder of the stakes. And their roles in supporting an authoritarian takeover.
Already, many companies have dropped even their feigned commitments to "DEI," and Target has been sued by shareholders for simply carrying Pride merch. The Friedman doctrine makes it incredibly unlikely that any publicly traded company will do anything other than appease, but so much of the supposed advantage of Bluesky is that it's a PBLLC that exists outside of that pressure.
So I look at their endorsement of Singal as a very negative sign for how they might respond to pressure to appease.
@robryk Because empty doesnt always mean empty... A tank can have gas stop coming out and then when you turn it off pressure will build up again as it warms. This is particularly true if they are a liquid at pressure.
So it can read as empty and gas might not come out but when you go to puncture it it may have re pressurized by then.
