By my math, climate change (and concurrent ongoing mass extinction event) is already irreversible, and will continue to get (much) worse before any kind of "new equilibrium" is reached, in however many centuries/millenia.
Every day mitigation doesn't start sets that time back further.
This "new equilibrium" may or may not include H. Sapiens. That part remains indeterminate. We may kill ourselves first. That's a whole 'nother set of equations.
As always, my math is questionable, at best.
