Dear Christine, I hope you are well. This is Bella from BBC Radio 4. We are covering the devastating case of Brianna Ghey tonight on our programme The World Tonight, and while it hasn't been deemed a hate crime, there were transphobic comments made by the children who committed the murder via private messages. We want to touch on the broader feelings of unsafety and trans hate crimes across the UK and were hoping to speak to someone who can give us a wider perspective on this. Would you be around? It's the lead of our programme. We're on air at 10pm. Best, Bella Sorry Bella but the BBC I once admired and trusted has long squandered trans people's trust. I don't do interviews with you under any circumstances. You have plenty of people on speed dial who behave hatefully towards trans people. The corporation gives them a disproportionate amount of space to spew disinformation and to justify making trans people's lives less safe. Hate crimes against trans people have mushroomed in recent years precisely because of the media's part in spinning webs of deceit. Do some self examination on air perhaps or do some actual journalism by holding the ring leaders to account. You won't have anything from me.
