We believe there should be warnings and information for people starting up Fediverse servers so people are aware what they’re signing up for and how to deal with things, along with improved documentation which centres the trust and safety aspect of running a server.
Do you think that would help new admins?
"Limiting replies will likely lead to more hidden harassment as trolls DM the OP instead"
"Limiting visibility of your reply can be used for hidden harassment"
Am I missing something obvious or are these actually reasonable arguments against limiting replies or visibility?
Like...
- If someone DMs me some harassment, I report it, it gets taken down, they get blocked from my server.
- If someone replies with some harassment but makes their reply "followers only", I report it, it gets taken down, they get blocked from my server.
Do admins *habitually* scroll down a whole thread of replies to mass-block/-suspend harassing accounts, for convenience/efficiency, to the extent that these changes would negatively impact moderation?
