Silona Bonewald · Ok I don't talk much about the Tesla X but it is amazing in heavy rain and light flooding. The weight distribution and aero Dynamics means it rarely hydroplanes (ie hasn't on me yet) and laughs at passing 18 wheelers. . The safety aspects is bar none. Silona Bonewald Also no worry about flooding the air intake... 4y Reply Raul Pineda Or water coming up the exhaust Switch von der Cosmos I seriously doubt that the battery box is rated for submersion. I would NOT Ford any high water crossing in an electric vehicle designed specifically for on road use only. 4y Reply Switch von der Cosmos A quote from your article: "Musk noted that the battery pack and the drive unit in the Model S are sealed, helping make them more resistant to water. However, he made it clear that he still does not recommend driving the Model S through high waters." 4y Reply Switch von der Cosmos Those items are sealed, in the same way that a rear differential is sealed. Water *shouldn't* get in there, but the seal specs from a Jeep Wrangler and a Honda civic will not behave the same in off road conditions. 4y Reply Silona Bonewald So you have researched how Tesla handles it? There would have been many fires in Houston if this was true.
