“WE'RE OVERSPENDING ON #UKRAINE! WE NEED THAT FOR OURSELVES!” "The US gave* [asterisk] $75 billion* [asterisk] to Ukraine . . . since the start of the war (Council on Foreign Relations) " This may sound reckless if you don't read the fine print... 1.That's not $75B in cash; it's $75B worth of total assets, like — heavy (and expensive!) military equipment - stuff that was already bought and paid for. 2.Actually we DIDN'T give them that much heavy military hardware; we LENT it - as in they agreed to give it back or pay the difference. 3.That's $75 billion out of a $1.5 TRILLION 2-year military budget (Statista). Which leaves $1 trillion four hundred twenty-five billion from this 2-year period alone, more than the next 9 countries COMBINED! (Stockholm International G Peace Research Institute). If we tripled defense aid for Ukraine, and then had to defend ourselves in a separate war, lack of funding wouldn’t be the problem!
