   a year and a half ago, before i knew many of you, I popped off on an LA Times reporter about my decision to continue taking long showers.

   While I emphasized the mental health benefits of my everything showers (“In this hellscape that we’re living in, it’s the one joy I have left”), I also pointed out that I lead "a generally water-conscious life, in a small apartment without a yard, and with a diet light in meat, which has a large water footprint.    so the @ProPublica report that just came out, about a handful of alfalfa-farming families in the Imperial valley consuming as much water as major cities really proves my point. and that alfalfa is going to feed cattle ABROAD.
