@p@fsebugoutzone.org @phnt@fluffytail.org @tyil@fedi.tyil.nl @waifu@mai.waifuism.life I think they're mostly static blogs run by neurotics and they don't actually have a problem with bots.To be completely honest this is my take as well. There is little to no reason why the Linux Kernel, one of the most resourced (if not the most resourced) FOSS organizations in the world, has difficulty finding servers/creating code that can handle the load without Anubis. They inserted the rent-seeking maneuvers from the start. They were hoping it would happen. It wasn't until the viral thelibre article came out that people started mass adopting Anubis. It is possible the creator set themselves up for promotion
@drahardja I hadn't really considered the prison slavery loophole but you're right, that's exactly what's going to happen.
It's clear these industries are built on having access to a labor force that is not paid properly.
Sometimes, after a little time has passed, I can more clearly see my own contribution to whatever was causing the annoyance.
Then I can apologise for my own contribution (if there's something I should apologise for) and discuss any remaining issues more constructively & less defensively.
But it doesn't feel ideal, I don't want to be deceptive or avoid difficult conversations when they need to happen.
It also makes a difference if it's work colleagues or friends or family.
@smxi I think that the huge rate of burnout in developers that cause issues time and time again can be traced back to this attitude of "I will license it permissively to get it into everything". When the code gets into everything without compensation, the pressure of responsibility mounts, and bad things happen.
It is my personal belief that one's mental health doesn't worth the "bragging right" of one's code getting into a wide range of proprietary garbage.
The laws are not written to benefit you, anyway. No matter what is said.
And even if they benefit you on paper, and someone in power doesn't want them to, they won't.
And you can have five different police officers deciding what the law is and they will come up with five different conclusions
Just because it shouldn't be happening doesn't mean it won't happen.
It is very much a Murphy's law thing
If it can go wrong, it will.
Death of a child is a tragedy, but 12000 children murdered by the rogue nation of Israel is a crime we should never forget or forgive those who comitted the crime or the ones who helped ot happen.
It's really sad. Her beautiful smile reminded me of my sister when she was young. It's really upsetting.
