Healthcare is, of course, an important concern. Trans organizations like Trans Zorg Nu have been pointing out for years multiple ongoing issues, such as: • increasingly long waiting lists, with waiting times now reaching more than 3 years in some Gender Clinics ; • relying on outdated WPATH guidelines, psychological diagnosis still routinely required before getting access to trans healthcare or to legal gender recognition ; • overall discrimination targeting trans patients in the Dutch healthcare system. Countless Dutch trans people have to turn to DIY and shady gray-market medication because of this. Despite being both dangerous and unsustainable, the trans healthcare as it is does not seem to be questioned by the governement or any major political party, leaving us with no hope for a better tomorrow. On the eve of the international Trans Day of Remembrance (TDoR), taking place on November 20, we also want to remember all of our trans siblings lost to suicide because of this truly deeply inhumane system. It's about time we say: our lives matter. Protect trans people, protect trans kids!
