Official statement of the Iowa Democratic Party in opposition to a letter by the group University Democrats of Iowa endorsing the Palestinian humanity cause through the phrase "From the river to the sea; Palestine will be free." The official Iowa Democrats statement calls for the resignations of those who signed the UDofI letter; and endorses the view that any level of support for Palestinians and in opposition to the Israeli government's military actions amount to "antisemitism" against Israel, and even justifies the Israeli military action and ethnic cleansing of the Occupied Territories through mass bombing and paramilitary death squads as self defense against "the terrorist group Hamas". The official statement reads: "The Iowa Democratic Party was recently aware of a statement made by University Democrats at Iowa, which included problematic anti-semitic slogans including "from the river to the sea Palestine will be free." Let's be very clear. That is a call for Jewish genocide and we condemn that offensive language. [Note: No, it is not; it simply reflects the Palestinian desire for freedom and autonomy through a separate state, and resistance to Israeli apartheid and targeted violence against them.] "The Iowa Democratic Party stands with the innocent civilians, Israeli and Palestinian, that have had their lives ruined by the terrorist group Hamas."
