You didn't answer MY question. Have you read the replies to my original post? People are actively joyfully attacking AI, making it clear not only are they not welcome, they should not be here.
To be clear. I"M NOT ENDORSING AI. I just used them as an example of this tendency to police the culture.
I've experienced this almost 50 times before, but it's still bizarre to me that the new year is already almost here.
To be fair to myself, each year is faster than the next as you get older, I guess that's why you never get used to it. And probably "omg is it already here" is something I've experienced more like 30 times.
A new day. A new chance to succeed.
Every once in a while I realize I'm old. Geriatric, even. Not in a morbid way. More in the "Holy shit. How did I survive?" way.
I try to remember to be thankful for all the lucky breaks, dodged bullets, and weird circumstances that got me here.
To the point where I'm old enough to regret the mistakes but young enough to think I can learn to do better.
So many mistakes. I've a ways to go yet.
May you find some gratitude in your day #today
So today is 3 years since I joined Mastodon. Really glad I did, so much nicer than Twitter. I have found a super community here.
To celebrate the occasion, I've made a small donation to @trumpet to help with the server costs.
Remember that Mastodon isn't funded by billionaires, and if you have a few pounds/euros/dollars/etc to spare, I'm sure your instance admin would also appreciate a donation. Details of how to donate should be in your instance's "About" page.
I didn't post this when it first showed up recording the 11 month year here.
To summarize, an absolutely not popular person with less than 500 followers is in the top 1% of mastodon.social users, and even has their own exclusive hashtag apparently (i just looked).
My purpose of creating the hashtag is for people's content that is exclusively on mastodon and nowhere else unless it's an old photo from the past then it might exist elsewhere of course.
I'd like to see the fediverse celebrate this year's #juneteenth by lifting up Black voices, and making Black people feel more welcome here.
To people who feel really strongly about quote boosts, putting content warnings on people's lived experience, and denying all the evidence of racism being prevalent here, maybe take a break for just one day.
