If you propose building new apartment buildings in order to bring rent prices down, the NIMBY crowd will fight you tooth and nail on the premise that those apartment buildings will lower the value of their homes if you build them anywhere near their homes.
In fact, just about anything you do to bring housing prices or rent back down to something the average American can actually afford, chances are good the NIMBY crowd will fight you.

Offshore wind is not dead, far from it.
"The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) approved two #OffshoreWind power projects with a combined capacity of 3,742-megawatts (MW) and whose backers include Invenergy and TotalEnergies.
The BPU said the two projects would bring about $6.8 billion in economic benefits to the state and provide enough energy to power around 1.8 million homes.
In total, the state wants about 11,000 MW of offshore wind power by 2040."

In revenge, Israel bombed residential neighborhoods of Gaza: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/oct/10/830-dead-in-gaza-since-saturday-as-shelling-hits-school-hospitals-and-homes It has not finished yet, and I expect it will kill many thousands of Gazan civilians. The report I've seen is that at least 830 in Gaza have been killed by shelling which has hit a school a well as hospitals and homes.
