Some events today of Sámi indigenous rights blockades against State of Norway continuing to violate Supreme Court ruling after >500 days.
Greenpeace joined the protests, e.g. by posting a "LAND BACK" banner on the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.
Protesters danced.
State "Security" told police to remove blockades at Ministries of Finance, Environment and Culture, so cops made several arrests bringing e.g. Ella Marie's sister Ayla to cop station.
Ella Marie commented "It's incredibly heavy to see our Sámi sisters and bothers carried out. Many came … from all over Sápmi … for … human rights …. It's difficult to see people feeling forced to this, because none of us want this." then asked if she knew many of the arrested well, "Yes, my little sister is at the police station. … She was perhaps the last evidence I needed to see how obvious this injustice is. She has almost never been political, but because she was born Sámi, she feels she must be here. It's so shameful.", then read SMS from Ayla saying "We're doing fine. Keep going and keep fighting, dear".
Oil Minister held a press conference saying "I'm sorry" for the reindeer herders having been in this situation and Govt "will follow the Supreme Court's ruling so that the rights of the reindeer-herding Sámi will be observed".
We'll see.
