   Both #Taiwan and #Ukraine erupted in popular protest in 2014 – Ukraine's Revolution of Dignity and Taiwan's Sunflower movement happened around the same time, as an act of resistance against an autocratic neighbor.

   The Sunflower Movement emerged in opposition to a trade agreement between #China and Taiwan. Protesters occupied the country's legislature and executive offices, and hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets, ultimately forcing the government to back down.
