Thanks for the inside insight. I've never been impressed with the efforts I've seen personally, but admittedly Meta is pretty big company.
In this case it does sound like things are really are changing for the worse there, which is truly sad to hear.
Given what you're saying, I'd agree that this feels like a "shadow RIF" in that they actively hope many people quit over this.
Wishing you the best on this.
@aud My reading is that "outlier AI" is the name of the company.
In other words, it's just saying "we'll pay you what we want to pay you" and doesn't necessarily mean that the ML model will set your salary.
Although I'm sure they're thinking about it.
Let's speedrun the XMPP-alike death of ActivityPub, sure. Let's sacrifice our freedom to corporate overlords all over again, because stuff like that worked out so well in the past. Nothing bad ever happened when projects began using a fundamental technology controlled by a VC-funded, profit-driven company.
In the end only a small userbase will remain vigilant while the majority gets fucked all over again. As always.
I want to scream.

We currently have a privacy training in our company.
In one of the breaks, we discussed whether TikTok is worse than all the US tech giants.
The teacher then comments that the US is not as bad as we all think regarding privacy because they fully comply with the GDPR, and we should stop seeing the US just as a privacy nightmare.
That guy just lost all of my respect :neocat_googly_shocked:
