   Chrome is the lead paint of web browsers, but I can't recommend Firefox, due to its increasing enshittification.

   In particular, it has telemetry, A/B experiments to change the experience out from under you, and ignores explicit user preferences in order to show full-screen ads on startup. It's used as a platform to drive usage of other Mozilla products, like Pocket and Mozilla VPN. Firefox Sync is theoretically open-source, but nearly impossible to run your own instance in practice. So, you have to trust Mozilla with highly sensitive information, like your passwords. Given their recent behavior, I simply can't.

   On desktop, I've been using LibreWolf, which is a Firefox fork with the garbage removed: https://librewolf.net/
