@quinze I don't want to have everything separated. But especially my Home Assistant should be completely separated.
I'm replacing HDDs on my NAS currently. Every time I replace it the NAS is off for about 10 minutes. Not to be able to turn on lights and stuff while it is off would be extremely inconvenient for my family.
My Plexamp, Jellyfin and Cloud Drive runs via my NAS too. But that's the same concern for me.
I recently started to wonder when my parents introduced their rules about apologies into the family.
My little brother & I have talked about how irritating it was that, even though our parents gave us a template for how to apologize & admit fault, our older siblings never would, but both of us feel grateful that we got practice admitting we were wrong. The ability to make a sincere apology has served us well.
Tracing one line in my family.
My father was a Vietnam vet, he reached the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Marines, received both the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart.
His father was a hydrochemical engineer at standard oil, and was not allowed to enlist. Of his four brothers, three died in the pacific as Marines, and one survived the war in Europe.
Their father faced horrors in Europe I cannot imagine as a chaplain. He was deeply religious, a trait that apparently never passed down.
His father.... I know little about.
But his father? He served under Hancock, and Meade, and others including Grant. I have the rifle he carried at battles such as Antietem, and Fredericksburg, and Gettysburg.
My point? My family has fought for this nation for generations, and I'll fuck my own ass before I bow down to these oligarchs.
We need to fight, we need a leader.
My kid, with social anxiety, who wanted nothing more than to be safe with her mother and her cats.
My kid, who was terrified of COVID, moved into a (admittedly very nice with a very nice staff) boarding school to be packed in with other students.
My kid, who was transitioning, being forced to do that outside of her family.
My kid, who made it clear she'd want to kill herself if she had to live away from home and who'd already had several attempts due to depression in the pandemic.
