I was curious about the derivative of the amount of daylight over time (or, to put it more simply, how the rate of change in day length varies from day to day throughout the year), and came across these lovely charts: http://wordpress.mrreid.org/2014/10/19/rate-of-change-of-day-length-with-latitude/
While at higher latitudes it appears that the greatest rate of change occurs around November, here in Boston around 42° it looks like the change is most drastic about six to seven weeks from now, around October 19 🌈
