Hey #Minneapolis! It's not the highest-profile election on the ballot, but there’s a genuinely interesting race for the school board at-large seat. It’s a seat that’s going to matter in the near future as the district goes through some very difficult budget years.
As usual, the inimitable @naomikritzer has a good writeup:

To Kritzer’s comments, I’d add that Kim Ellison has, in my view, an ugly track record of being union-hostile.

The whole of Taiwan was jolted by a magnitude 7.2 earthquake that struck just off the coast of Hualien County at 7:58am on Wednesday, the largest quake to hit the nation in 25 years.
As of 3:30pm, the death toll had reached seven. A total of 736 people were injured, and 77 people were still trapped or stranded.
Thoughts with friends in Taiwan.

It can also be easy to overlook the improvements the half-decent cities have made in just the last 10-20 years.
As an example, the entire length of the SkyTrain system in Vancouver has roughly tripled since 2002.

Regarding how "religion without faith" works, if faith is defined as belief in a deity, there are a number of religions that are not centered on this. Buddhism, for example (though some Buddhists do recognize and/or worship deities). I identified as both a Buddhist and an atheist for a good 20 years.
As not all atheists have the same views about divinity, I wrote about what it means to me to be an atheist here:
