   INNOCENT: A black NYC subway passenger used an illegal weapon to kill a mentally ill passenger threatening his girlfriend. The grand jury declined to indict the passenger for either the weapons charge or manslaughter.
   GUILTY: A white NYC subway passenger restrained a mentally ill passenger threatening other passengers. The restrained man died after the incident. The grand jury indicted the passenger for manslaughter.
