LB: The fact that Mastodon (the aoftware) has AFAICT not evolved in the last 6 months to address any of the major complaints people have had about it (quote-toots, better searching, smooth onboarding, probably more I can’t remember) makes me think it’s probably not a long-term platform for most people. Any corporate platform which offers more is going to smoke it.
Maybe it will be a *very* long-term solution, as corporate platforms will probably come and go on a 5-15 year cadence, but if so then its supremacy will probably come after I die.
It is obviously a long-term solution for some people, but I bet almost all of those people are here already. The platform needs to substantially evolve to attract more people.
