I think the bigger underlying question is what makes someone transgender? I’m going to personally preface this by admitting that I do not believe in “non-binary” identities. I believe it’s a colonial construct headed by anthropologists who didn’t know how to categorize Indigenous and various cultural practices but I digress…. I believe gender is a social construct based off of what society associates with femininity and masculinity. These traits happen to be heavily associated with sexual dimorphism in humans. This isn’t a matter of debate but a fact. It’s why wide hips are associated with fertility, etc. Does dysphoria determine someones gender identity? It certainly seems to be the main factor for transition. We live in a world where how you identify doesn’t influence how other’s read you, hence dysphoria and social stigma. I certainly can’t help but question those that admit to not having any dysphoria if they’re not post-op or happily passing from their PoV. This goes back to why I don’t take “nb” ID’s seriously, because most of them admit to not having dysphoria and this identity was essentially created to allow spicy straights to claim a transgender identity. In trans communities you guys usually refer to them as “assigned female at birth” but everyone knows y’all are just talking about bored yt women with poor fashion sense (bonus points for the pronoun signaling.) So these people don’t face the same experience as “binary” trans folks, because they don’t have dysphoria or a condition they’re seeking to remedy. It’s my opinion that this dmgs the LGBT community because this massive contradiction to what being transgender actually means makes it easy for legislators to frown on self ID and fund your surgeries are “life changing”. Just my perspective.

Humans are sexually dimorphic, and appropriating intersex experiences is not proof that humans are not sexually dimorphic. Gender is a construct but sex isn’t.
