So the live action Avatar: The Last Airbender is out and I've got things to say. I will be tagging my spoilers appropriately but to start...
What asshat convinced Netflix that ANYBODY was interested in a dark and gritty Avatar reboot?

Ah, here's that original post! Or at least a screenshot of someone else posting it...
@pettter Patreon I understand a bit better. Jack Conte didn't WANT to be the microtransaction crowdfunding app for indie creators.
He WANTED to be the Ticketmaster/Major Label replacement for musicians. Give Amanda Palmer $20/mo to get tickets to her shows and her new albums. But Trent Reznor and Tori Amos weren't interested and a whole bunch of indie musicians, artists, YouTubers, podcasters, comic creators, and more were.
And he's been pissed off about the accidental success ever since.
If you've disconnected from #twitter but are curious about #ElonMusk's current mess:
Twitter took away legacy blue checkmarks but Elon decided to "pay" for some himself for big celebrities.
Everyone started mocking him for it.
Some started a campaign #BlockTheBlue using plugins to block all paid-verified accounts.
Elon then "gifted" the largest accounts promoting this with Twitter Blue assuming they would then stop to protect themselves from being blocked.
Including the account for dril
But to prevent impersonations, the new blue verified removes the checkmark if you change your display name.
Which dril did.
And it came back immediately. Which only happens via manual review.
So dril changed his name again.
And the checkmark came back.
This has been going on back and forth for an hour, while dril relentlessly mocks Musk and Twitter Blue.
Elon Musk is in a pissing contest with a meme account on his own website.
AND LOSING.
This is my favorite summary of the situation from @Nash076 and
And in case you missed it, yesterday all this happened:
1. The Twitter Blue backlash kicked into high gear after going live on Thursday a good 14 hours after it was scheduled.
2. SpaceX had a catastrophic launch failure that blew up the rocket, destroyed the landing pad, threw debris all over the nearby city, and left a crater.
3. Tesla shares dropped over 10%. Again.
4. Elon's personal worth dropped by $12.8 billion marking the largest loss in a 24 hour period in modern history
Fun Fact: The original version of Monopoly, called The Landlord Game, featured this exact mechanic. At any time, the players could vote by majority to switch to cooperative rules where everyone wins if the player with the least money doubles their money.
The original designer, Elizabeth Magie, was...well, not a "socialist" because that term didn't exist yet, but a proto-socialist called a Georgist with that specific message intended.
