Artist: Vampire Weekend Album: Father of the Bride
My favorite album of 2019, and becoming an all-time favorite the more I listen to it. A perfect example of an album: beginning, middle, and end, doesn't overstay it's welcome, and overall, is just fantastic!
The first Hives album I've ever listened to. Sometimes music works best if you follow one rule: keep it simple. The Hives take that simplicity seriously with short, but punchy songs. All killer, no filler!
Artist: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Album: Demos Vol. 3 + Vol. 4
The 3rd and 4th volume of demos from King Gizz, once again courtesy of Needlejuice Records (@needlejuicerec). This features two early takes of The Dripping Tap. I wonder if any of these songs are gonna make it on PetroDragonic Apocalypse? On Dead Pond Scum 2LP!
This is the self-titled debut album of the Motörhead-inspred band Whitespade, themselves the alter-ego of the heavy metal band Midnight. Now, I haven't listened to Midnight's music (yet, I'm open to suggestions, though), and while this isn't Motörhead themselves, it's pretty close the to real thing! On black/white split vinyl!
In between #AEWRampage and #SmackDown, I present to you my only purchase for #BandcampFriday this month: an EP featuring country-fried versions of songs from The Legend of Zelda. Just how I like my video game music: twangy!
Artist: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Album: Teenage Gizzard
Another boot courtesy of Needlejuice Records (@needlejuicerec). This one features the bands earliest recordings, circa 2010-2011. On Fried Gizzard splatter vinyl!
Artist: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Album: Demos Vol. 1 + Vol. 2
Part of King Gizzard's Bootlegger program, with this particular pressing coming from Needlejuice Records (@needlejuicerec). Featuring early takes of Evil Death Roll, Planet B, and Fishing for Fishies, among others. On Bad Bananas red and yellow 2LP!
So, I suppose after all this time on here, an introduction is in order...
My name is Jordan. I love listening to music, especially on #vinyl.
What you'll see on this here feed will mainly consist of what I'm #nowspinning on my turntable at the moment, alongside the following, in no particular order:
David Bowie's album, The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars, was a recent discovery for me this year, immediately clicking with me and quickly becoming one of my all-time favorite albums. So, naturally, I was excited when I hear that Easy Star All-Stars were releasing a front-to-back reggae/dub version of this album! On Royal Blue vinyl!
Artist: The Doors Single: Break on Through (To The Other Side)
The final piece I got for Record Store Day 2023. This is a 3" single; for those out of the loop, 3" singles are so small they can only fit one song, under three minutes on one side, and you need to have a special turntable to listen to them, which I also have. This particular one is different than the others I own, largely due to the cover art size.
Artist: Larry Lovestein & The Velvet Revival EP: You
The second-to-last stop of my Record Store Day 2023 stash. This 10" EP stars Larry Lovestein, the alter ego of the late great Mac Miller. From what I understand, this album is more jazz than hip-hop, with Miller as Lovestein crooning. On gold vinyl!
This live album, the contents of which were shown on HBO back in the day, features live recordings of songs from her solo album Bella Donna, alongside Fleetwood Mac classics.
